Best advice for this resume?

May 11th, 2011 | By admin | Category: Resume Tips

I am having trouble finding a job due to a large gap of unemployment. I have a year’s experience at a retail job and 6 months at McDonald’s. The rest are temporary jobs and are on average 3-5 months apiece. I was unemployed for about a year due to health problems. Staffing agencies want nothing to do with me because of this. What can I do?

what where
job title, keywords or company
city, state or zip jobs by job search

  1. Well the best thing to do is, one the areas you were not employed. You can use a skilled you may have acquired during that period. You can say Due to hardship in between jobs I was unable, to give 100 percent in my management of time for a full scale job search.

  2. It depends on where you are applying.
Focus on your good points and apply to places that seem to fit what you’re about and hopefully that will help you.

Many companies don’t want to hire someone that already has had health problems- so don’t tell them you had time off because of health problems. Just say you had time off for yourself- your family- or some other thing you may have been doing in that time period such as self-improvement through college courses….

Consider working at a place like Barnes and Noble or Blockbuster video. Or try the city for some part-time jobs because those can sometimes lead to full-time jobs.

  3. don’t depend on agencies to find you a job….think about the hotel, restaurant and retail industries
