Design job help! any advice?
I am a mature student of 45years old who has just graduated from University as a Graphic Designer.
I knew it would be a hard slog to find work in this current climate, but it is proving almost impossible to get any foot in the door anywhere!
I feel I have a wide range of talents to give in the design world, but finding someone to want me is impossible…or so it seems.
I have put an ad for work wanted in a local paper, search and apply for tonnes of jobs, all to no avail.
Any advice or tips on finding work in my field would be greatly appreciated.

  1. I’m sure your faculty instructed you on networking? Do you have ayour own website? Business cards? An expectantly designed resume? Keep doing what you’re doing, if all else fails, freelance and take advantage of your network.

  2. you have to work on becoming a well-known name. for that, you might offer to do small work: for the community center, church, school, neighborhood shops and so on. on the other hand you have to promote your exclusivity skills. like offering to do the wedding/christening announcements of all of your relatives and friends and co-workers and their acquaintances.
