Anyone ever have job as DOG WALKER?
Feb 11th, 2011 | By admin | Category: Finding a Job in Day Carei am currently looking for a part time job and found one that i am interested in (doggy day care lol). the pay is decent and i love dogs (have 2 of them) so i dont think i will have a problem
but what i wanna know is, how did you like the job???
pros and cons??
thanks!
Yes, and I enjoy it.
The cons are really around your frustrations with the owners. Even though these people are spending a lot of money on their dogs, you will see quickly that many of the dogs have unrecognized health and behavior issues. Learning how and when to bring them up to the owner is the hardest part of the job.
Since April, and I don’t do huge business- dog with an intestinal infection, dog who needed 5 teeth pulled, dog with puppy cystitis, dog who had an ear infection, dog who ate a bottle of Tylenol (not on my watch-and the owner didn’t see this was a problem until told). They all got to the vet in time and they are all fine now, but this sort of stuff happens regularly. It takes a lot of patience and problem-solving to be a resource to the owner who is underinformed and not a pain in the neck!
I think you’ll really enjy the job, but that’s been my biggest chalenge. Everyone thinks they know what’s best, and these folks clearly love their dogs, so learning to approach them in the right way is the hardest and most rewarding part of the job.
